The Scolding
- Oil on canvas
- 80 X 60 cm
In the home of one of my great aunts, who was old and bitter, lived a maid with her daughter who was the same age as me: ten years old.
My aunt, even without reason, often scolded the girl. A nice relationship grew between us.
Our ten years old age, for the first time, had discovered a great friendship.
To console her for the reproaches, sometimes I would bring her candy that my mother’s friends gave me and that maybe I had sucked a little.
One day the maid went away.
My little friend and I said goodbye with a last glance of understanding.
Many years have passed and I have never met another person with whom I could share my slightly sucked candies.
